Migration Packages

These packages have been created for customers that are migrating off a legacy portal technology stack to the latest and greatest on WebSphere Portal and WebSphere Portlet Factory, WebSphere Dashboard Framework and Lotus Widget Factory and Lotus Mashup software. There are three broad areas in these migration packages:

Legacy Application Migration package

Streebo-Legacy Application Migration package

This specific offering is geared towards customers that are doing mass transition of applications from legacy stack to WebSphere Portal or Mashup environment. IBM’s Factory allows hook points into your existing Java, J2EE, Domino, relational databases, ERP, CRM, legacy mainframe and service end-points allowing you to create a smart, rich user interface to all your existing back-end systems.

Customers that are migrating large number of Domino or J2EE applications (25-2000 applications) for instance to the Portal, they see large scale savings when they can apply software automation principles. Instead of manually coding the entire application stack with hand-written portlets, IBM recommends using Factory technology to automate the migration process. Rather than hiring an army of consultants and off-shore developers, you can take an innovative track and apply Factory technology and the assembly line approach.

At Streebo, we have done this over and over again. Our customers consult us to help them identify repeated patterns. We often supply them with builders that capture common design patterns both in the User Interface and back-end integration. We will show you ways and techniques you can leverage your existing POJOs, beans (local and enterprise) and Messaging systems & service end-points. You don’t have to re-write the entire application – we can show you how automation principles can radically simplify the migration.

Read about how an insurance giant (Republic Indemnity) leveraged IBM Factory technology & Streebo’s expertise in Software Automation as together we identified repeated patterns and reduced the migration time of Net. Data (IBM has Sunset this technology) to WebSphere Portal. Customer simply placed an order for JSR 286 Rich User Interface against their existing AS400 systems (iSeries) and Streebo delivered them standard compliant, manufactured and assembled solution that gives 3000 remote Insurance Agents (Workers Compensation specialists) access to back-office systems at corporate.

Legacy Turn-Key Portal Migrations

Streebo-Legacy Turn-Key Portal Migrations

This package provides a service framework and execution plan for Portal Migration projects. Customers that intend to migrate from legacy portal such as Plum-Tree, Vignette and WebLogic to the more modern WebSphere stack find this package a great way to get started.

WebSphere Portal is a market leader and has been leading the trail since a decade now. However, customers that choose the WebSphere Portal often buy a bundle of products including Web Content Management, Lotus Connections (social software), Commerce (WebSphere Commerce) and QuickR (Document management system). As they start the migration of their existing external or internal site, they soon figure out, the problem could quickly become perplexing. Business simply does not want a 1-to-1 migration. They paid a neat sum to buy the new WebSphere software stack, now they are watching and waiting for IT to deliver on the promise that was shown in the last demo meeting where everyone signed off. This is where Streebo often gets called upon.

Streebo is currently in the process of migrating off the legacy Plum-Tree portal for an office supplies giant - a social portal for 45,000 store associates - building better & modern collaboration platform for the office supplies giant.
